Allgaier to Attempt Kansas Double
SPRINGFIELD, IL (June 29, 2005) – Justin
Allgaier is set to attempt his first double-duty
weekend this week at Kansas Speedway. The 19-year-old
Riverton, IL, native will attempt to qualify for
the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series “O’Reilly
Auto Parts 250” and the ARCA RE/MAX Series’
“Kansas Lottery $200 Grand” at the
1.5-mile paved oval. Both events are slotted for
Saturday, July 2nd, 2005.
Allgaier will wheel the #63 Dave Porter Truck
Sales/Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool/LubriLoy
Ford for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series portion
of the event before switching back into his own
Allgaier Motorsports’ AgTech LLC/Hoosier
Tire Midwest/U.S. Air Force/TRASHMAN #2 Pontiac
for the ARCA RE/MAX Series. He has never competed
in either division at Kansas Speedway. The young
driver made his first NASCAR career start last
weekend at the Milwaukee Mile and finished a respectable
26th place in the #63 truck.
“Last weekend was great for confidence
but this is a completely different challenge at
Kansas,” commented Allgaier when asked about
his feelings on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
event. “The 1.5-mile track is not something
I have a lot of experience with yet and it will
require a completely different approach and motor
package. They have worked on a new motor in the
shop and I’m confident that everyone will
give it 100%. That’s all we can do and hope
that we are there to take advantage of any opportunity
that presents itself. When you are a small team,
you have to be very conscious of that.”
The “Kansas Lottery $200 Grand” ARCA
RE/MAX race will take place immediately following
the NCTS event. Allgaier has only completed limited
tests at speedways including Kansas, Gateway and
Kentucky and this will be his attempt at an ARCA
speedway start in the 2005 season.
When quizzed about his views about the upcoming
ARCA feat, Justin stated, “We came to Kansas
last week and tested. The car was comfortable
and I got to make some laps around here but we
didn’t have the motor will be using for
the actual race, so we were down on horsepower.
We just picked up an engine from Joe Rhyne this
week so hopefully we can make up that extra ground,
qualify well and be a contender. We also have
a new sponsor that came on for the event, AgTech
LLC, and they have really stepped up to help us
out and I would love to bring home a good run
to give something back to them for their investment
and confidence in us.”
Attempting to qualify, let alone compete, for
both events on the same day will be quite a feat
for the most experienced veteran, let alone a
rookie but Allgaier is willing to put it all on
the line.
“We can only give it our best try. We usually
only compete in one event each week and at Kansas,
we will have the opportunity to try for two and
possibly double our chances. It will be a long
day but I’m looking forward to it.”
The “O’Reilly Auto Parts 250”
will air on MRN Radio and SPEED at 2 p.m. CDT.
